cold showers thread
many here on twitter know that there are lots of benefits to cold showers, the main one being, after you get used to it, they feel great. here's some more info

As this takes strength and dedication, Wim advises to gradually build up the duration and intensity. If you have no prior experience with cold showers, start with a regular shower and finish the last 30 seconds cold.
You quickly notice that you are able to tolerate the cold more and more, and eventually cold showers and even ice baths become things you look forward to (trust us).
cold showers build up your toughness, and they reduce cortisol by training your brain to resist stressors. you will have much better will power as well. they also wake your body up, get blood flowing, and make you more alert
they are good to take when you wake up because you have been accumulating co2 (which is also a good thing) when you were asleep, and the deep breaths replenish your oxygen stores. also just good for boost of energy at start of day.
also good to take at end of day to mimic nightfall with the shift to colder temperatures, which benefits circadian rhythm and stabilizes hormone production
people who take cold showers have better immune systems. the quick change in temperature forces your body to make more white blood cells which fight disease. the cold also boosts your metabolism which is helpful if you are cutting weight, or really just all the time.
from a more esoteric perspective, cold showers increase nutrient absorption, clear your head, save your natural oils (hot water strips them from your skin and hair), increase cholesterol production, testosterone production, burn brown fat, and are proven to help with depression.
another thing not many know about is that (for men) keeping your balls at body temp or higher for long amounts of time halts sperm production. cold showers 'reset' the testicles for better hormone output, clears out all the passages, and can even cure/prevent testicular cancer.
athletes take ice baths (which are different, but similar) after games and practice to increase blood flow and release tension. your mom puts ice on your bruises as a kid to make you feel better. tibetan monks use cold exposure along with meditation and breathing to cleanse
