Trump got my support when he started calling out #FakeNews. Why? Because at the time I had begun reading a lot about propaganda and how its used to dehumanize opponents. I had never considered voting Republican in my life before that point. (Still don't, btw.) [THREAD] (1)
But I began to think. I'm nearly 40 years old and in my entire life there has never been a Republican politician or voice of any label (libertarian, conservative, etc) that was not labeled a racist/sexist/homophobe. Its been the same since Goldwater. (2)
The media spent YEARS and YEARS dehumanizing Republicans and within the last decade or so these attacks have started becoming vitriolic beyond repair. Its been okay to deplatform right wing thought in University for 20+ years, in the media, its been longer. (3)
The cultural shredding of all things valued by a Republican base: capitalism, liberty, the family, the nation and religion. The media (esp Hollywood) made a mockery of it all. More than a generation of Americans gobbled up very negative views of basic traditional concepts. (4)
Hollywood was rewarded for it (even by trad Republicans) and thus we just got more and more extreme hatred towards traditional arenas of life. Break down began. People left churches in droves, families fell apart, and marxism rose.
The media got more brazen in their hate (5)
Being a traditionalist become synonymous with being a hillbilly, which was already synonymous with being a white supremacist. Hollywood created that vision of the toothless, ignorant hillbilly Republican who hated blacks and gays and who thought women were dumb. (6)
Once their artistic rendition of the Republican formed, they began searching for real-life examples. There's always more than a few, to be honest, and they elevated those to represent the whole of the party and the people in it. (7)
In any good essay all you need is a central idea and three or four good examples to support the central idea to make a decent argument. So the media took to doing "Man on the street" segments, hunting ignorant hillbillies at rallies to laugh at. Jay Leno and many others did it.(8
Twenty or so years of hillbilly baiting constructed the national view of the Republican party. Anything remotely intellectual was downplayed or simplified to "racist/sexist/homophobic." Avg Joe dont want to be one of those hillbillies people laughed at, the narrative worked (9).
Thus the media will suggest every single Republican who runs for any office is a dumb, ignorant hillbilly. Look at the parallels between Bush and Trump. Any verbal flub is targeted w/ precision by the media. The media portrays them as stupid and thus you're stupid, too (10)
The voter base has to be dumb hillbillies, too. Its the only way a dumb hillbilly politician can win. And so the media pushed their narrative into younger and younger people, brainwashing the youth in school and still piling on artistic renditions of the hillbilly. (11)
Hatred for the caricature of the Republican became of course commonplace in Hollywood. It wasn't enough to mock and humiliate them. If they survived the brainwashing and resisted attempts at reeducation, then they had to be physically attacked. Deny a Republican safety (12)
Over the last 4 years or so we've seen people physically assaulted for just being a Republican. This has gotten so bad that hillbillyism isn't even attached to a race anymore. (13)
"Oreos" "race traitors" "acting white" all mean the same thing: you're a Black hillbilly. You believe in trad concepts and so you're a problem. This caricature exists in the media, too. Call it the "Carlton Banks Syndrome." (After the character on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) (14)
Carlton Banks is a nerd. He's "uncool," and "inauthentically Black." Because he's not into the same cultural poison "cool" Black people are. But you may say "Mongo, Carlton isn't a hillbilly!" Ah. Let me explain...
(15)
The White Hillbilly is a pitiful case to the media type. He's too stupid to know better. He dances to a subtle "dog whistle" the snake-charming Republican politician plays.
The Black Hillbilly, to the media leftist, identifies with the snake-charmer. He's "acting white." (16)
Being a hillbilly caricature isn't always about class, its about beliefs mostly. Traditionalism in itself is backwards to the media leftist, and backwardness is a trait of a hillbilly. So one must be progressive! Forward-thinking! Intellectual! The complete opposite, right?
(17)
But I noticed all this during the 2016 campaign. Listening to the Ana Kasparian "Better-Than-You" type of leftist and realized that she represents most of the Democratic party now. There's vitriol in her tone, a venom which oozes actual hatred and not mere disagreement (18)
Social media and the internet have made it possible for non-hillbillies to get their voices out and to counter the Hollywood narrative. This of course fuels rage. They can't afford to just mock you anymore. You have to be SHUT UP completely and by any means necessary.
(19)
So since 2016 we've seen Hollywood and the media all but rubber stamp physical attacks on Republicans. If they can't brainwash, you refuse reeducation, then violence is all they have left. So the violence began. (20)
Republicans have been kicked from businesses, their services denied. They've been fired or assaulted for wearing a red hat. Their institutions burned and looted. And the media turns a blind eye to it all, because you're just dumb hillbillies and they're the enlightened ones. (21)
Getting violated is for your own good. Maybe if you weren't a hillbilly it wouldn't happen. If you joined the collective the violence would stop. If you give up your beliefs you can be safe again. It's not about you, really, the mob attacks the caricature which isn't real. (22)
And Trump exposed that. Trump showed, for the first time since the age of Twitter and Facebook, that Republican voters aren't all dumb hillbillies and there are substantial flaws in the way cities have been run by Enlightened Democrats. They can't debate it so they'll burn it (23
Dehumanizing media played a huge part in the Rwandan genocide. Day after day the negativity grew until one day it snapped and people started killing their own neighbors. There was no set amount of negativity needed, either. The rubber band just suddenly broke. (24)
Of course we know what Hitler's propaganda against the Jews led to. And so what do you think CNN and MSNBC's hatred of Republicans will lead to? Unity?
Even they know better than that.
Some pretty famous leftist academics have argued against 1A in favor of "hate speech" laws. It's meant to target the hillbillies, those who say mean things about gays or blacks or women. Its an attempt to silence dissent by just labeling it "hate speech." (24)
But one would be naive to think "hate speech" laws are anything but a silencing tool against one side of the aisle.
Leftists engage in racism and sexism all gotdamn day and face no censure nor need to apologize. Do we really think hate speech laws will stop them? Of course not.
They own the institutions, they redefine terms at their leisure, this is about power (it always is).
They want the ultimate power in society, to decide who speaks and who doesn't. For decades Leftists had that because they owned media but social media has removed the mask (26)
Now they can't just deny you a platform on campus or refuse to have you on their TV shows. You can find a way to reach an audience on your own, if you're enterprising enough and they want to stop that, too, using tech censorship. (27)
Trump exposed all of this, and he did so completely by accident! That's the brilliance of this. Nobody would've believed this cabal existed if he just wrote a speech about it. Eisenhower wrote a speech about MIC and nobody did anything but people are watching how Trump is treated
And they know if the President can be dogged in this way, then what chance do they have?
Trump won by accident but a win is a win. He exposed the Hollywood propaganda machine, having been inside of it and embraced by them until he put an R next to his name. Wake up.
