I hate seeing people waste time and hard work therefore I’m going to make a thread on why you should NOT attempt the kEtO diet...
The way keto diet works is , normally when u train or do cardio your body starts off by burning off carbs, than fats , after fats it goes to the proteins , that’s the last step . When it goes to the proteins that’s the worse because that’s when muscle break down starts to occur
In order to start “keto” you have to get your body into ketosis mode. The way you do that is you minimize carb consumption, eat a lot of healthy fats , and do a lot more physical activity
So after you get into ketosis , it takes around 4-7 days naturally . Your body converts fat into ketones which becomes your body’s main energy source , when normally your energy source is carbs not fats .
So after that happens , now when you workout you burn FATS FIRSRT not CARBS... bc u don’t have any carbs in your body, after the fats are burned you go into your protein source (won’t happen to the typical person... much more goes into detail with this)
Now , why shouldn’t you do keto?! I will never recommend keto to anyone , bc you are eliminating an entire macro nutrient. All diets have one thing in common and that is a caloric deficit
Eating 2,000 calories of chips and eating 2,000 calories of steak , while burning 3,000 calories a day (-1,000 a day) puts you at -7,000 calories a week, do that for a month (-7,000 X 4 = -28,000 calroies ) -28,000 calories is equivalent to - 8 lbs
The weight on the scale will be the same regalrdess of what you eat as long as you are in a defecit , the way you feel, look and your strength will NOT , reason being is that many foods have different nutrients and macros
So yes , you can lose lots of weight with keto , but can you sustain it? Chances are close to slim... why is that ? Because you can’t live without carbs forever ... carbs are love , carbs are life , just find balance and enjoy life
