The thing with the way i write clubs deuce is that he's very smart, very forgetful and has self-worth issues
He can recite you the laws of thermodynamics just because he hyperfocused on a physics book once 10 years ago but he can't tell you what he ate for breakfest that day

And his self worth issues just boil down to "you're worth more than i do so ill make sure youre good and well even if it means I'll be miserable" because when he was in derse his entire caste was put down as being disposable because after all jesters aren't essential workers

I think settling down with the former white queen (tm) made him more reserved in that regard, because she is more reserved about what sorts of liberties people can take with her and it brushes off on deuce when he realizes this makes him feel less miserable in the long run

While sometimes putting your foot down can backfire tremendously, realizing not letting people walk all over him is actually good is my deuce's #1 character development
