Yeah nevermind... seeing all the negativity around the chapter has sapped my motivation to talk about it. Shame, because it's the first "good" chapter we've had in months #DragonBallSuper #DBS61Spoilers #SuperCh61
I'm going to pull these numbers out of my ass, but I believe the Moro arc has been going for 15 chapters now? Objectively speaking, the first 10~ chapters were excellent while the last 3-4 were absolutely awful. This one... is both excellent and mediocre.
Let's start with Vegeta's new technique. It caught me completely blindsided; I was expecting something that could damage Moro, or cancel his techniques, or maybe just "absorb Moro's energy" which is a theory I've seen spread around
But learning this technique hasn't changed Vegeta at all. He's still weak as fuck and his new trick isn't something like a transformation/power-up, contrary to Goku's Ultra Instinct.

Instead, he can now engulf his attacks with a special aura that, on contact, can...
..."separate" all things that have fused or been absorbed. In Moro's case, he has literally eaten millions of people and several planets over the centuries, absorbing their power in the process. By hitting him obstinately, Vegeta made all that power leave Moro's insides...
...and made the villain WEAKER than him. Meaning any weak character could possibly force down a terrifying villain to their knees, if they used that specific technique.

This is interesting on its own, but it's made even better when you realize this trick can...
...ONLY be used on Moro (unless the writers are dumb enough to introduce villains in the next arc that mostly rely on fusion/absorption-based power-up gimmicks)

Starting the next arc, Vegeta will still be weak and the trick he's learned in this one will be meaningless. Just...
like Goku's Ultra Instinct which he immediately forgot after the previous arc and he's now having trouble mastering it again.

So if shit hits the fan and Goku/Vegeta are rendered powerless against the new antagonist because their shiny new tricks are now outdated...
...there's your way to keep the Z-fighters RELEVANT. They finally brought them back during this arc, and these fucking jobbers can come back again anytime to get their ass kicked while Goku and Vegeta try to find ways to solve the crisis
But anyway, talking about the next arc's crisis is all well and good, but with this chapter Goku and Vegeta's tricks were ALREADY rendered irrelevant because Moro took countermeasures wayyy before the fight(s) even started. We knew 73 was gonna be used as a plot device sooner...
or later but not in such an interesting or efficient way. And now Moro's used him to rise to a power level that makes him even more threatening than before, and Goku and Vegeta, who were already weaker than him to begin with, are now hopeless on their own.
And I mean they're REALLY fucked now. Not like the fakeout we've seen earlier in the arc, I mean it was pleasant but it was a no-brainer they weren't dead then, Toriyama already pulled this shit in 1980 with Goku vs Piccolo lol, it's predictable now
That's the 'main' good development in this chapter, an extremely useful and original new technique (one that can re-shape and re-form the existing DB lore in many ways, as with Vegeta explaining to Piccolo he can 'separate' him from Nail if he wanted to)
...and Moro being a clever as fuck antagonist for a change.

I must also mention how refreshingly mature Jaco's exchange with Vegeta was regarding the possible execution of Moro. ...or maybe DB Super just lowered my standards for 'mature' topics lol, cuz it would have been...
...a run-of-the-mill, not so remarkable conversation in OG Dragon Ball, I suppose.

Let me take a break before I talk about the BAD stuff in the chapter; I didn't think this thread would be so long #DragonBallSuper #DBS61Spoilers #SuperCh61
