In it we cover 10 publications from last year and I'll go through them quickly in this thread, sorry if I miss any twitter handles! We really hope you enjoy our review, its a slightly different format to most but when you want to read more i've linked to the papers in the thread!

Last specialised metabolites paper is looking into the history of glycopeptide antibiotic biosynthesis and resistance by Nicholas Waglechner et al. ( @gerryiidr) which you can find here: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41564-019-0531-5
Next is looking at ancient polar actinomycetes and their antibiotic potential by Natalie Millán-Aguiñaga et al. (including @SylviaSoldatou , @Munnj90 and @kate_duncan available here: https://www.microbiologyresearch.org/content/journal/micro/10.1099/mic.0.000845
Before we then look at the amazing local adaptation of leaf cutter ant Pseudonocardia symbionts and Escovopsis pathogens and the implications of geographic mosaic theory of coevolution by Eric Caldera et al. (including @wildtypeMC) available here: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31676475/
