#HappyJuneteenth
A reminder on why the Civil War started and the backhand way slavery was abolished:
1) The South was rolling in dough and responsible for most of the income of the U.S. bc it had the most slaves.
2) Problem became the North was taxing the crap out of them.
3) The South was like bruh this ain't fair. Ya'll can kill that tax talk bc we bringing in all the money, we will just start our own thing-The Confederacy was born.
4) The reason the Civil War started is the same reason all wars start: MONEY!
5) War kicks off and the South is low-key beating the brakes off the North. The North panics and comes up with the idea of tipping the scales by getting word out to slaves in the South: If you can get up North we will put you in the army and you will receive freedom as pay.
6) Obviously that's a risk most slaves would take. The rest is history. Literally. Black soldiers fought for their freedom and won for the Union.
7) Lincoln issues the Emancipation Proclamation, not out of a good heart, but to solidify the fact the South would be crippled forever
8) Never again could the Confederacy rise against the Union bc their lifeline was taken: the slaves. Again, #HappyJuneteenth
