friends, forgive me for going off the main subject of everything that's going on in the US, but i need to share what is happening in my country & to my ppl because of the sanctions that the US has insisted on imposing upon Cuba repeatedly during this pandemic.
Cuba is an island nation of 11 million, its revenue is tourism. they also make money on the medical brigades, which is how they pay for the free healthcare they provide for the people. the brigades are by no means perfect, it's NOT a great gig, but it is NOT human trafficking.
doctors willingly sign up for brigades. true the pay those doctors get sucks. & yes the govt keeps a lot of the brigade $$ & they use that to provide free housing, free education & free health care to their ppl. but this is NOT a defense of the Cuban govt. this is abt the People.
in Havana, a large supply of food comes from the interior. right now, there is no way to get from the interior to the cities, which means farmers can't sell their food & people in cities can't get it. i will explain what is causing this. hint: it's NOT because of communism.
communism has been there for 60 yrs but the food was making its way to the cities even when I was just there in February. recent US sanctions against shipping companies that deliver fuel to the island have caused a huge fuel crisis. No transportation across the island.
lack of transportation means lack of food. my family hasn't seen an egg in a month. Why does the US have the right to block shipments of oil & medical care FROM OTHER COUNTRIES to Cuba?
