In honor of Ross Gay's 'Book of Delights' I want to share some #delights over the next days and months.
June 19th: I recently bought a small baking dish. It perhaps holds one and a half portions of a thing, but perfectly. This delights me.
The next #delight : the memory of my mother's hands when looking at my own. My mother had beautiful hands and a flourish that showed in everything she did with them: mixing batter, typing on her selectric typewriter, in her handwriting. Hands hold the past without trying.
June 21: Taking my rain gear for a long mo(u)rning walk in an expanse of green within Vienna's city limits. Quiet, lush, peaceful. I wax nostalgic on these old stomping grounds. I am no longer the runner I once was. #Delight : to be still moving, always observant.
June 22: A new joy and peaceful occupation for my thumbs: a 9 key kalimba. Purchased from a saleswoman whose heart smiled wide and welcomed my beginner's curiosity. Everything about this unexpected acquisition proved to be #delightful.
