Story time again :3
In Ancient Greece, rams are used a lot in their jewelry. Here are my designs & the story behind them.
So in Greek mythology, Athamas, the king of Orchomenus in southeastern Greece, was married to a goddess named Nephele (it means cloud I love it).
Nephele was a nymph that Zeus created in the image of Hera. Athamas & her had two kids, Phrixus & Helle. After some time Athamas dumped Nephele & fell in love with a basic mortal bitch called Ino who hated his children & plotted to kill them.
Nephele was devastated after the split & left, causing drought upon the land. Ino took advantage of that & spread a rumor that killing Athamas’ children would bring the land back to life. So the farmers of the city took matters in their own hands & headed to kill them.
Before they got to Phrixus & Helle, Nephele sent a winged golden ram to save them, so they hopped on the ram & escaped. While above sea though, Helle fell from the ram & drowned, the sea came to be known as Hellespont (the sea of Helle) & in turkey is now the Dardanelles sea.
Once Phrixus reached the land, he killed the golden ram as a sacrifice in order to obtain the ram’s golden fleece & return its soul to the gods, the ram once returned to the sky, became the constellation Aries, hence the ram in the zodiac sign’s imagery. ♈️
