Baku, capital city of Azerbaijan is 28m below the Sea Level. It is the World's lowest lying Capital in the World. Yet, they don't suffer floods like Lagos does.

They worked tirelessly on their drainage system, and even though they face challenges, it's not as worse as Lagos.

Amsterdam, Netherlands is another capital city that is 2m below Sea Level. You need to see how these people have turned that to an advantage, building Aqueducts for water to pass.

They maintain clean canals and even use boats on them. Lagos need to be serious with water.

How about Venice, Italy? If you check your map, Venice looks exactly like Lagos, on the edge of Mediterranean Sea.

These Venetians developed inland waterways transport called "Vaporetto". They use water to their advantage. Even tho they see floods, yet they flourish still.

In 2015, I n @ICONOREOLUWA studied Lagos waterways, drafted n sent a Proposal about creating Inland Waterways Transport System like the Venetians to the Ambode regime then. Nothing.

If the Government need people who know Lagos Waters like the back of their hand. We are here.

In case you still don't understand what I am saying, Venice is 1m above Sea Level, yet they've managed to use water to their advantage.

Our own Lagos is 41m above Sea level, yet it look as if the Atlantic is about to swallow us cos of flood.
Lagos need to take water serious.

First, take dredging and cleaning of the Canals very serious. Ambode tried doing that sometimes before he left, very great action; you could see the water at Obalende underbridge then getting better. I think, it's gone to worse back now. Cos they neglected the project.

There's also a guy on this Twitter that I always see posting pictures of how he went to places in Lagos to clean drainages, very great initiative. These are young people who have foresight and will do well with Government backing.

Some of us are still here. Lagos can do it!

I am going to develop this thread into a comprehensive article and show you how many beautiful cities of the World are not as favored topographically as Lagos, yet they learned how to use the surrounding waters to their advantage.
