When you realize your author page has been taken down, in essence a theft of your labor that had already been rarely credited, by an organization advocating for "freedom of speech." You can& #39;t fight for whatever rights while suppressing labor rights in your workplaces. Pass it on.
The issue extends beyond this org. Getting proper credit and compensation is a huge battle for women working in media. I& #39;ve had to fight tooth & nail for the most meager of benefits/rights in every single place I& #39;ve worked at while watching mediocre men waltz in and get far more.
Trip down memory lane: At one of my earlier jobs, after begging for mths for a living wage, the director cheerfully tells me I& #39;ll get a raise for my "bday." Like it& #39;s a gift. When I ask abt health care, I& #39;m told it& #39;s either or, not both. More junior men got more w/ full benefits.
This story ends well, tho. I filed a formal complaint bc this was illegal and got health insurance. A few days later, I got into a very bad bike accident and accrued thousands of dollars in ambulance and medical bills that I otherwise wouldn& #39;t have been able to afford.
I& #39;m sharing all this to say: if you can, fight back.

It& #39;s costly and damaging when done alone, so organize! Share your salaries w/ each other, meet outside of work and discuss grievances, and form a united front. And always remember: you don& #39;t need your bosses, they need you!
I& #39;m aware this was brought to the attention of the organization in question and they& #39;ve seemingly decided to respond by lying instead of acknowledging & apologizing for their mistake.

I do not wish to escalate; rather, highlight a structural issue in NGOs. Pls don& #39;t force me to.
I& #39;ll wrap up this thread by saying two things:
1. The Lebanese Observatory for the Rights of Workers & Employees
(المرصد اللبناني لحقوق العمال والموظفين)
is an invaluable resource, use it.
2. The recently formed @NgoWorkersLeb has great potential, join it and build power.
