They pegged the name “The Satanist” because they knew that the Christian/Catholic religions would be most offended by their use of the name and symbol, Baphomet. The statue was put in place because there was a monument of the 10 commandments on the government property.

The point they were trying to make was that religion has no place in government unless ALL religions could share that place equally. If the 10 commandments could be there, then so could Baphomet or any other symbol of any other religion

There was no point to this thread, just sharing some knowledge I’ve gained so far while studying Religious Studies. Also, there are actually religions that worship the devil, but this particular group doesn’t!
