"you came," your mother welcomed sicheng as he arrived at the venue.

"auntie," he smiled.

"why would i miss my bestfriend's wedding?" sicheng said, forcing out a smile.
your mother frowned as she heard those words from him.

"i've always thought you and my daughter would be married someday."

sicheng once again smiled, but this time, it was a painful one.
"auntie, where's the bride's area?" sicheng asked, immediately changing the topic.

"go straight and then turn right once you've reached the end of the hall. the first door you'll see is y/n's room," she directed.
"she's probably alone right now since she wanted some time for herself before the ceremony."

sicheng thanked your mother and went his way.
he was nervous and at the same time, in pain. years have passed since the two of you last met and neither would've thought that you'd meet up once again at your wedding.
"sicheng!" you exclaimed, smiling widely as you were seeing your best friend after several years.

"congrats on getting married today," sicheng smiled, doing his best to hide his pain.
"come! sit down beside me! i want to catch up before i get married!"

he looked at you, observing how you looked from head to toe.

"you still look beautiful as always," he whispered enough for you to hear.
instead of sitting beside you, he decided to sit on the stool near the bride's chair.

it was quiet. neither you and sicheng started a conversation. he knew if he started it, he might end up breaking down in front of you.
on the other hand, you knew it would probably be the last time that you and sicheng would be together in private and you also knew it would be the best time to let things out of the box.
"sicheng," you started, breaking the tension in the air.

he raised his head up and looked at you.

"thank you," you smiled, not breaking your eye contact with him.
"for what?"

"for being there by my side growing up to who i am today."
sicheng's eyes started to water.

"i wasn't even by your side when we reached college," he muttered, putting his head down and breaking eye contact with you as he knew if he maintained it longer, he'd breakdown.
"but you taught me how to love," you whispered.

he raised his head up, looking at you with eyes filled with pain and surprise.

"what do you mean?"
"you know, i've loved you way back highschool but i knew if i told you so, i might lose you," you smiled bitterly.

"so i decided to keep it in so that u could keep staying by your side."
"just how cruel is this world," sicheng's voice cracked.

"i've been in love with you since i first saw you. heck, call me corny but i fell in love with you at first sight," he chuckled bitterly.
tears started trickling down his face while his voice started to crack even more.

"i didn't want to lose you so i also held it in. but you know what happens when you bury feelings? it grows. despite being far away from each other, it never died."
he took a pause, wiping away his endless tears and trying to finish what he wanted to say strongly.

"that's why i want you to be happy," he smiled, holding your hands together for one last time.

"okay?"
