Imagine loving Allah to the extent that THE ONLY thing you want is the honour of looking at His face. And to talk to Him and hear His response and listen to His voice and be in His company.
Imagine the state of someone who sees this world as a prison that keeps him
Away from the one he loves the most. Imagine someone who yearns to meet Him until he is in a constant state of restlessness and pain bcz of it.
This was the state of the prophets and the awliaah. They were sad bcz they had to spend time away from Him.
We can only hope to catch fleeting glimpses of the state they were in. But a person who looks forward to meeting his Rabb tends to find his heart moving away from the pleasures of this world. He does not become completely detached since that isn't permitted in islam
But he loses the strength of his connection with this world and his connection with the next world becomes stronger. Such that he finds little joy in the pleasures of this world and becomes like a traveler who is constantly yearning to be home again.
Being sad does not always mean that your eemaan is low. Sometimes, the sadness can come from a high level of emaan as well. As we see in the case of soo many prophets who faced trials after trials and were never happy in this world bcz for them, Thier trials and
Sorrows were in fact a source of increase in their station. I will end this thread with this Hadith. If your life is difficult. That does NOT mean that Allah is not happy with you. Salaam
