ok i’m gonna do this while i make mac and cheese but i see a lot of autism hcs thrown out never expanded on either out of fear so im gonna touch on some of the things i do as an autistic person
i think one of the biggest ones is interests, whether fixation or special interest. every autistic person defines these terms differently, but for me a fixation lasts for a week or two and it is an overwhelming thought, i can barely think about anything else.
a special interest stays for a long time. i can lapse back into fixations but they are always overwhelming, special interests also have a background light in my life. for example, i want to say black monday is a fixation. i lapse back into it but it’s not always there.
pokémon is a special interest. it’s a constant state in my mind and has been for years. a lot of these special interests for me are childish things which pushes us into another topics of age regression.

i experience ages regression but not like most autistic people
or people with it do. mine is older than most peoples, but those types of shifts are just as heavy. it’s not something to make fun of.

a lot of people with this, or even autistic people in general find comfort in children things. media, toys, etc. it’s not something
to be laughed at, and considering how many cartoons i watch, and how many childish things i own and are into i really dont appreciate it ever being mocked.
stimming is also highly important. all autistic people do it differently! some prefer certain types of fidget toys, some prefer music, some prefer pacing, etc.

i mainly stim via music and pacing (im pacing while i type this lol), i dont have much interest in fidget
toys. but with that conversation is where people who are NOT autistic need to talk abt the fact cringe culture was so enforced onto fidget toys. chewing, stimming, anything i did it got laughed at, it wasn’t seen as a helpful tool anymore. that whole reasoning is why
i dont use stim toys anymore, im only now thinking of getting back to buying chewing toys.

with autism can also come, poor focus, only being able to understand one or two school subjects, heavily struggling with the other, having a hard time understanding social cues
or how people type or talk, not following conversations, being unable to function when sensory is too high, general sensitivity, rejection sensitive dysphoria, tons of fidgeting, feeling a large disconnect from gender (hence why there’s a lot of ppl creating their own!), etc.
there’s so much more i could talk about but i feel like this discussion is so important and i might do the same with bpd. but autistic people aren’t stupid, we aren’t on a spectrum, we don’t always need your help. the idea of helping autistic people when they need it
and seeing them as strong individuals can coexist.

now let’s touch on something that relates! cringe culture.

if you participate in cringe culture you.. are just a bad person lmfao. if they are not doing anything wrong, if they are harming no one, if you are making
fun of people for how they dress, how they look, what they’re into, you’re just shitty. as someone whose into a lot of ‘cringey’ things i don’t even get whyd you’d follow me in the first place. yes this includes jokes.
anyway i hope this thread helps some people out!! if you have any more questions just reach out!! and remember your autism doesn’t excuse ignorance or being an asshole!! <3
WOW i totally forgot about hyperfocusing, im doing it right now okay!

quick note: hyperfocusing is an adhd thing too, it stems from focus, it’s where you are focused so hard you cannot stop what you’re doing even if you’re asked. it’s caused tons of problems with me
because you forget to do anything else (eat, sleep, drink, etc.). it’s very hard to control, but it makes binging shit easy if it’s a fixation LOLOL
