My personal response to the Deaf/HOH Community:

[audio transcript]
Uh point blank period, we fucked up, I fucked up. Uh we launched a test and we should have included accessibility features in that test. That was a huge error, and one I personally have made myself sit [cont]
with all day today. Which is why I’m just now commenting on the feature. Uhm and the feedback. And I appreciate the deaf community, the HOH community, and all of the advocates for bringing [cont]
awareness to our mistakes. I uh have a lot to learn as it relates to a11y and I’m excited to dig into the resources that are well documented throughout the internet. And I won’t even go into any specifics at this point, except for the fact that of course we are [cont]
absolutely working to fix this as soon as possible, uh but I won’t make excuses for our mistakes. What I do want to say though, is that as a Black woman I wholeheartedly understand what it feels like to be excluded, to be the one who has to advocate for myself [cont]

And honestly a slap in the face to all of the work, the decades of work that you all have been putting in to raise awareness about designing and developing for...including accessible features in your design and development process from the start [cont]
And I want to just end by thanking you again. I would like to personally uhm educate myself fuller on what I can do as a designer so I can be a true ally in my own work. I feel confident in Twitter and my leadership and especially my team to make a true change [cont]
to the ways in which we build products and that is why I chose to come to Twitter 6 months ago..less than 6 months ago. This has been a wild ride uhm please keep the feedback coming. Please also remember that there are real humans behind uh these Twitter avatars [cont]
and so try to keep it respectful. please don’t call me out my name, I won’t call you out yours. uhm and I look forward to continuing to hear your feedback and getting a fix out as soon as possible.
