NEPOTISM: WE TOO, THE P̶E̶O̶P̶L̶E̶ PROBLEM!
(Trigger Warning Thread)

Firstly, let's ignore the fact that this below pic couldn't find any single female outsider worthy to be featured here.

Secondly, the full caption should have read something like this ;)
Our hate in support of one actor has generated more hate for many others. If nepotism is labelled as the only problem, wonder how Ranbir, Shahid, Kareena, Saif were praised by the same audience who are trashing them today.

A classic example of 'gehu ke saath ghun bhi pis jaana'.
Bollywood promoting untalented lot is surely a huge issue today. But at the same time, it's been OK for us to avoid watching strong content films by the talented lot. Nobody saw Tumbbad or Kaamyaab in the theatres.

While we right-fully rage, let's have a look into ourself too.
In the political context, Bollywood's nepotism is a matter of agenda & convenience. Kangana, Manoj & Anupam are outsiders, but so are Nasseruddin, DP & Taapsee.

But we support or troll them only upon checking their political leaning. In reality, hypocrisy ki koi seema nahi hoti!
In matters of movie-viewing also, we have a pre-conceived notion. For eg: A film like Baaghi 3 is 'too obvious' to be dumb & therefore to be watched like that, but a Malang or Article 15 'mein story & screenplay thoda aur acha hota toh aur maza aata'.

You know this well, you do!
They are blamed for promoting star-kids, correct! And then we go to watch them FDFS inspite of the generic dislike; note the first day & LT collections of films like SOTY 2 or Dhadak vs. good content + star-kids Notebook or MKDNH.

Who can be blamed? Must be the packaging done!
The names featured in the pic above are now already famous, but they also had a struggle period ranging from few years to a decade. SRK is only one who made it huge, rest are mostly either grappling on & off or supporting leads.

Pataakha girls are still waiting for appreciation.
Then again there are some (now) big names and talents who are outsiders - Anushka, Deep-Veer, PC, Aish etc.

But somehow we don't consider them outsiders anymore(?!) This creates a doubt sometimes whether we really hate the underserving nepo-kids or just anyone who is rich! Er...
We do hate nepotism when bad actors are repeatedly promoted; like Ananya, Arjun, Sona, Sonam etc.

But it's a fact, nepotism also has failed far too many of its products: Karan Deol, Malaal jodi, Harshwardhan, Soha, Isha, Zayed, Jackky, Uday, Kumar G etc. The list is super long.
Our online hatred, is sheer OPPORTUNISM. It's us collectively who made films all abt entertainment + comedy alone; so the applause for pure art is mimimum. Nobody had locked cinema doors for the highly-rated Sonchiriya & Byomkesh Bakshi.

Have we watch these? Maybe we won't ever.
Insider or Outsider, our country just DOES NOT UNDERSTAND MENTAL HEALTH. Depression is widely made fun off, or brushed off by the elders around us.

Even after this incident, there is no dearth of online jokes & trolls on someone talking about depression.

WE NEED TO CHANGE THIS!
We have had star-kids being promoted by media & insiders since forever, but the consistent IN-YOUR-FACE toxicity was undeniably elevated way beyond by KJo & YRF especially.

We may have cared less uptil now, but it's HIGH-TIME that we keep our eyes open in the coming times too.
Most online warriors maybe pretend today, but we need to reflect within us. Though we have always been a country of star, gender, political & religion bias. BUT LET'S PLEDGE TO BE AWARE OF THE NEW TALENTS going forward.

WE CAN MAKE A POSITIVE CHANGE, ATLEAST HERE ON!

❤
PS: The thread is nowhere meant to imply 'I support nepotism'. It is to provide a perspective on what most of us consider the whole structure to be, and how we view it.

Hopefully it will help in re-thinking the EXTREME that we have nurtured in the past few days.

Thank you!
