Let me tell you what Chungmuro is. Especially to the ignorant fans who always feel Kdrama is grandeur than K movies as it is more popular internationally.

Chungmuro is equivalent to Hollywood. There is an area in Seoul that is known as Chungmuro (there’s a subway stn with the same name. Subway line 3,orange line).

So if we take into account the counterpart of Chungmuro it is similar to Hollywood Boulevard.

It is known as a center of film industry of Sk as this is where the first movie theatre and film studio was located. The title Chungmuro stars are giving only to selected actors/actresses who made it big in FILM industry and create Box Offices.

Chungmuro stars = Hollywood Stars

It is an honorary title that every actors and actresses in SK aim for. Anyone can be an actor/actress but not everyone can be a Chungmuro star and Unlike Hallyu star title, Chungmuro is not only popularity based. It’s Quality based. In simple word star power

You can read a lot of Chungmuro history at Chungmuro subway station. They put all the trivia and memoriblia of Chungmuro history along the subway station.

The movie theater Dansungsa is still operating until today.

I bet if you asked your bias, they will give the same answer.

“I want to do well in acting and hope one day my name will be among the Chungmuro stars”.
