White screenwriters: There’s a job you’re up for that you know would best go to a Black (or POC) writer. Don’t take it.

It’s always “the best writer for the job” until it’s a job best for a Black person. Then it’s “bUt Im PaSsIoNaTe AbOuT tHiS sToRy.”

I have white writer friends who will think I’m speaking about just that one convo I’ve had with them. But honestly, I’ve had this convo with SO many of you, take comfort in knowing that you’re not the only one unwilling to put your money where your mouth is.
