/ Thanks to friends I was able to read the #Venezuela part of Bolton's book without having to give dime to that cretin. Some quick thoughts on it follow.
/ Bolton basically writes as if the Democrats don't exist (expect for Obama who he blasts for being too "relaxed" about the governments Bolton thinks it is the Devine right of the US to destroy).
/ But in terms of actual opposition inside the US to Bolton's efforts to overthrow Venezuela's democratically elected government the only force he describes as stifling him is Mnuchin. Sadly that basically accurate. In fact, when Bolton writes
/ that "support on both sides of the isle for our hard line on Venezuela was almost uniform". Bolton might have deleted the word "almost".
/ For example, Bolton proudly describes his twitter rampage during early 2019 - when he directly urged Venezuela's military to oust Maduro. What were Democrats tweeting to challenge Bolton (& Rubio, Pompeo etc who also flooded twitter with similar shit)? Basically fuck all.
/ During the aid stunt of February 23 the one rare Venezuela-related tweet that @SenSanders put out reinforced the lie that Maduro had been refusing "aid". Rather than counter maniacs like Bolton, Sanders reinforced their lies. Bolton doesn't mention it in the chapter.
/ I am just providing it an example of why the Democrats were basically ignored by Bolton. Even the top "progressive" Democrat gave the likes of Bolton, Rubio free reign on #Venezuela .
/ Apparently both Trump and Bolton thought it was fun to threaten #Venezuela with military attack by flashing a yellow notepad a reporters. "go have fun with the press" Trump supposedly said. Rings true. squabbles aside, like-minded thugs in the end
