LOOKING FOR OPINIONS FROM POC!!!
(Specifically addressing art community)
I know it has been common for some time for artists to mention their race/ethnicity/nationality etc in their bios and info cards. Is it appropriate/encouraged for YTs to do the same? Thoughts in thread

Like, on one hand, there& #39;s a REASON ppl would be adamant about their ethnicity. POC have suffered centuries of discrimination at the hands of YTs, so it shows a sense of pride in one& #39;s heritage. I am here for this. I have no pride in the YTness of my heritage, although I& #39;ve been-
trying to get in better touch with my Scandinavian bloodline on my maternal side. The reason I& #39;ve wondered if maybe I should mention I& #39;m YT is to end the stereotype of YT being the "default". Same logic of cis ppl listing their pronouns, out of solidarity. My concern, tho, is-
-that it could come across as like nationalist or smth to list it, and I know many racists like to insist in their YTness, like T*RFs using their "ad*lt h*man f*male" line, which is not what I want. I just would like to move to a culture where we don& #39;t ASSUME ppl are YT. This-
-is very common not only with artists, but with furries as well, and I see many ppl with black-coded fursonas expressing their frustrations with being unheard and ignored, and I want to show allyship without trying to take attention. Like I said, I& #39;m not like trying to express--
-pride in my color, but maybe if I listed in like an illustrated profile card that I am YT, I can help encourage an environment where we stop assuming YTness, and stop burying people& #39;s identities. An extended question of this is, how do I describe myself? Do I just use the word--
-"white" or do I distinguish myself as Anglo, as to acknowledge Hispanic White people as having their own, distinct identity. I& #39;d like to be more open about my Finnish heritage, but I& #39;m not very connected to it socially right now (something I hope to change in the future) so I& #39;m-
-not sure about referencing that at this time. Any input on this subject, whether your own opinions or pointing me in the right direction (g*ogle has not been helpful) would be appreciated. And just to reiterate, if this seems like it takes the dialogue AWAY from POC, I don& #39;t--
-want to do that at all. I only ask about this now, during these times, because I want to help contribute to a culture change. I& #39;ll be prob deleting this thread later. Thank you for your time and any info you can provide. xoxo
