I signed onto a letter endorsing Warren for VP because when I think about the future of this country no one else had the depths of plans to tackle systemic injustice, climate change, repair the economy, and repair democracy. We are the last generation who can tackle climate.
I’m glad the last few weeks have shined a light on the need for systemic reform about racial injustice - but climate is also a racial justice issue and candidates who don’t bring that skill set to the table are not going to be my choice.
People who don’t have economic access can’t flee when a hurricane or fire hits. So they disproportionately die. Both domestically as well as a growing number of climate refugees. This hasn’t been much of a topic these days but the next administration will need to address it.
Of all the candidates- Warren was the only one who included climate action as part of her discussion of trade, immigration, energy, land use, economic growth, and ocean health. It matters to me.
We don’t have time to educate the next administration prior to action if we want to avoid species going extinct, coral bleaching and death of key ecosystems, & loss of human life due to major disasters. So my priorities haven’t changed. I hope the VP vetting process includes this
