MORRISON PRESS CONFERENCE< A THREAD
Q. Is this a series of coordinated attacks over recent months rather than an attack taking place now?
A. I refer you to the comments I made this morning.
Q. It still remains unclear to people, has something specifically prompted you to speak to the Opposition Leader and the state premiers about this matter?
A. It was time to ensure we raise greater awareness about this issue as I said this morning.
Q. Is the headline right that Australia is under attack right now, hospitals, schools, local government, state government, federal government?
A. The government doesn't write the headlines, the press does that and I don't intend to interfere in that process. I have been clear.
Q. Although you haven't attributed it to China, that is the assumption of many, are concerned about retaliation from Beijing?
A. Again, I've set all those issues out this morning and made my comments at parliament house today.
Q. When you say Australia is currently experiencing these attacks, what did you mean by "currently"?
A. I meant currently.
Q. Are you referring to a single specific ongoing attack?
A. I already set out the government's position on this with the Defence Minister at Parliament House this morning, which was the appropriate place to do that and I refer you to that.
Q. There has been a lot of anxiety after this morning's press conference. As you say, you don't write the headlines, but we do. We are just trying to clarify the situation?
A. I think I was very clear this morning in the statements I made with the Defence Minister.
Q. Has there been a spike? (truck noise)
A. I will refer you to what I just said.
