we should be able to address any issue some may have, acknowledge it, work on realistic solutions for it and continue in our good fight for equality
the constant argument of what black women do and what black men don’t do (and vice versa) needs to be heard, understood and then create a response on how we fix that.
and honestly, black men need to be held accountable for their actions and so do black women. a solution is to get to the core of why this argument always reappears. it starts with the children
when we change the way we raise our future black generations, we (black men and women) need to stop doing the things we accuse each other of doing because these children hear and see what goes on and thinks that what we do is the norm and the way of life.
we need to show them that when our young black girls say they’ve been harassed by black men, it needs to be taken seriously. when our young black boys are sexually harassed by black women, we need to show them that that is not normal AT ALL.
but again, this comes from honest and respectful dialogue from both sides. when saying how we feel, it needs to be done in a manner where people are listening INTENTIONALLY and coming up with feasible solutions to move beyond the constant bicker
our energy and passion against each other needs to instead mesh cohesively so that we could work toward dismantling the oppressive system that wins everytime we lose focus of our real goal.
