there’s a lot of issues being talked about, articles and books being recommended, and lengthy threads (ik this is one but bear with me)
im a visual learner & also learn best by reading text so twitter threads and books are best for ME

finding it hard to learn w/ chunks of text is okay! you just have to figure out how to modify your learning experience. if you learn best thru AUDIO, look up speeches and audiobooks on youtube, spotify, apple music, etc.
you can listen while doing other things

on youtube, you can look up “the prison industrial complex” and listen to people speak
apple music and spotify have speeches from angela davis, malcolm x, and others
YT any topic or look up audiobook versions of recommended readings

if you find it hard to sit through long speeches or stay focused and still while you try to read, take lots of breaks!! don’t feel guilty if you lose concentration. find cliff notes and summarizations if you need to
visual learners typically learn best with graphs and diagrams. theres youtube channels that explain complex topics with drawings, charts, visuals
its also helpful to highlight, draw arrows, etc on physical copies of books

readers/writers are usually fine learning by reading articles, books, long twitter threads and find it difficult to just listen to someone speak (think: needing captions)
readers/writers are often the ones to say “just read a book” and im guilty of doing it myself

for some things aren’t as easy as reading lots of paragraphs all in one go, but its still not an excuse to not get educated
especially now that we have so many resources all at our fingertips. if you know your learning style, you can educate yourself in a way that works for you
