This is snippet from Dayang Senandong (1965). It's a local folklore. It's offensive to dark-skinned people and it doesn't age well, the same with some other folklore. I'm not sure why people are reviving it though. The 1965 version should be left as it is because it's a classic.
Why this movie should continue to exist?
1) It signifies the type of thinking at the time. It reminds us what our society was like and compare it to recent times to measure what we are now
2) There are other good values from the story
3) It's a classic movie--a part of history
4) When watching, parents can remind kids that this isn't how we should treat dark-skinned people. Problem is parents don't guide anymore and their kids even watch porn.
And also, there's no need to revive the story by making a modern version. It is clear that this story doesn't suit modern thinking. The teledrama production house that produces it should have thought more but don't expect much from them, they aren't beacon of morality.
