The Black Freedom struggle continues, so as folks explore Jubilee/ #Juneteenth , pls take time to recognize that our work is unfinished; that freedom remains elusive in so many ways; & that the vestiges of slavery are alive in institutions & prevailing ideas abt Black people...
And please consider what it means that Black people have a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT day to commemorate freedom than the one universally acknowledged & celebrated in the USA...
I’ve been going to #Juneteenth festivals forever. Let’s commit to dismantling structures, practices, symbols & ideas that sustain and/or exacerbate oppression. That is how we honor the ONGOING fight for freedom. ❤️🖤💚
Lastly, I’ve “reclaimed” my Juneteenth time for decades, so folks, try to engage these days as a time to reimagine what’s possible. ✊🏾❤️ @flourishagenda
