-reminder that Mexico is barely recognizing AfroMexicans (over 2.9 million) this year despite their existence in the region since before Mexico was even founded (1500's)

-reminder that "Raza" fetishizes mixing with whiteness in order to further distance people from Indigenous/Black culture. It is a form of erasure, genocide,& ethnocide against Indigenous/Black folks.
-reminder that Brown Lives Matter is not needed as a phrase because Black Lives

Matter does not mean that other people of color don't matter, but rather highlights how settler colonial states treat Black people violently & disposably in ways that other people of color are not and is a movement for liberation from this violence. All lives cannot matter

until Black Lives Matter.

-reminder that some Indigenous groups in so-called Mexico have been recognized by so-called Mexico before Afro-Mexicans as a whole have gained recognition.
