tonight we have four candidates facing off: derek sloan, leslyn lewis, erin o’toole and peter mackay.

full disclosure, i am not impartial; i hate them all. so let’s get started.

format: chaotic, similar to the federal leaders debate.

derek sloan talking about canadian sovereignty and defunding the united nations right off the bat. bold

first question is about CPC inclusivity. o’toole highlights GTA roots. mackay talks about modernizing conservative party. o’toole talks about big tent, calls mackay divisive. comments about mackay not currently holding a seat. blah blah blah.

i’m already zoning out at the sound of sloan’s voice. says its crazy that we have no laws restricting abortion. lewis talking about importance of parental rights and the family unit. sloan mad about conversion therapy ban. lewis says its a matter of parental authority.

o’toole hates carbon tax, praises jason kenny for this environment work (???). lewis talking about environmental foreign interference and reducing regulation. o’toole wants carbon capture, nuclear and pipelines. “pipelines are a national interest”

mackay and sloan agree clean water is a priority for indigenous folks. both managed to bring indigenous reconciliation back to a pro-pipelines stance. sloan says he as an issue with the transparency act, mackay likes act. sloan against UNDRIP.

o’toole and sloan hate china. o’toole worried abt steel and aluminum. o’toole said china messing with WHO. sloan will bad chinese state owned companies from buying canadian natural resources and land. sloan worried about IP.

lewis worried that people are euthanizing seniors (???)

sloan talking about cancel culture and political correctness. no more paris agreement. something something free speech. no bill c-16. “i denounce cancel culture.” says he wants “one big happy party”

sloan, stop saying sovereignty man. just stop.

lewis back on parental rights. government does not love children and should thus not interfere in family matters.

sloan says: reduce immigration for affordable housing.

systemic racism:

mackay says systemic racism exists. we need more minority cops.

sloan says canada made mistakes. canada has racist citizens but canada is not a racist country. systemic racism = bill 21.

lewis says canadians need to understand difference between individual racism and systemic racism. need to modify institutions such as police for better outcomes.

o’toole says zero tolerance for racism and anti-semitism. trudeau cancelling the pipeline hurt indigenous folks.

for some reason no one here seems to be interested in defunding the police

sloan says he will declare antifa a terrorist organization

sloan says he doesn’t want equality of outcome he wants equality of opportunity

sloan: communists have infiltrated WHO. canada should defund UN.
