One of the most jarring things about reading books written in the late 70s or early 80s is that when they talk about sex they use the phrase “fucking WITH”, e.g., “I’ve been fucking with him for three months now” would mean “I have been having sex with him for three months”

I guess it could be worse. At least using “ball” to mean “have sex with” fell out of favor

There’s even early AIDS pamphlets that will say things like “take precautions when you’re fucking with someone new” and at first glance I was like yeah, you probably should take precautions before fucking with anybody, really
