I keep thinking I have reached the end of my naivete, and then there is another depth to plumb.

Ancedote: I was in college when the ARA, the Anti-Racism Action league, was working in the Twin Cities. At most punk shows, the ARA made a big stompy presence.

When I went to the shows I sort of thought it was yet another excuse for dudes to get in fights and feel like a hero. I didn't take it seriously, and I never really saw the Nazi punks they were telling to fuck off.

A big part of me thought it was all overblown because, in my heart, I could not really believe, really ACCEPT, that ANYONE would actually want to be thought a Nazi. That anyone would WANT to associate with fascists.

I knew Satanists. And I still emotionally just balked at Nazis.

I also did not understand that the REASON I didn't see Nazi skins at First Ave was BECAUSE the ARA skins were there. They said with words and fists that Nazi Punks Must Fuck Off. And fuck off they did.

The ARA were loud and preachy and stompy and I found it all a little tiresome.

But fascist sympathizers knew that their views were an unwelcome minority. That their presence would not be tolerated. That no swastika-wearing skin could see a punk show in peace.

So.

Today I saw a news story that Facebook removed a number of campaign posts belonging to the current regime.

These eighty-eight posts began with a sentence containing words, in total number, fourteen. And used a red triangle symbol to refer to antifa.

"Fourteen words" refers to the white supremacist David Lane's call to arms. "Eighty-eight" means 8 8 which means H H which means Heil that fucker. The red triangle was the Nazi concentration camp sigil for political prisoners.

The current regime used Nazi symbols on Facebook.

Like, officially.

This is the reelection campaign.

I want you all to scrape out any last shred of naivete or incredulity you might have about this.

These fuckers knew what they did.

These fuckers did it on purpose.

These fuckers did it because they think no one will stop them.

No Nazis in the club.

What made the punk clubs Nazi-free was TO NOT FUCKING LET NAZIS IN.

Every time you see white supremacist, neo-fascist, alt-right, or Nazi symbols, phrases, or attitudes, you fucking step up and tell those fuckers to fuck off.
