Why is no one talking about the steady increase in COVID-19 cases in California? Everyone pointing out Texas, Florida and Arizona. CA has 165K cases and 5.3K deaths and has been steadily climbing since mid-March @GavinNewsom Newsom
To put into comparison, California has 419 cases per 100K residents; Florida has 400 per 100K. Granted Florida is seeing a surge, California has been surging since March. Nothing they’ve done has stopped the slow spread of COVID-19
Texas has far more cases but still 350 per 100K residents. Their deaths are 7 per 100k residents. California is nearly double that of Texas @GavinNewsom Newsom
Now Arizona is a different matter. Their surge is recent and cases are 598 per 100K. Deaths are 18/100K.
The United States as a whole has effectively flattened the curve; deaths nationwide continue to decrease. (According to the @nytimes)
But going back to Florida, while cases are spiking over the past two weeks, deaths have been effectively dropping on average since the second week of May.
