Did I ever tell y'all that my 7th grade social studies teacher played in the NFL and was teammates with O.J.?
Aiite so boom. Mind you this was 1997. This was after the whole trial and O.J. was walking around out here as a whole ass guilty free man.
I played football back then and me and some friends were talking about practice. Yes practice. Our beloved educator walks by and quietly says
Teacher: you know, I use to play back in day
Us: Oh word? that's cool.
We go back to talking.
Us: Oh word? that's cool.
We go back to talking.
T: Yeah I played in the NFL.
*Record scratch*
You know we had alllll the questions
Us: Come again? When, where, what team?
T: the Bills.

He hands us a copy of a printed out picture of the roster. We quickly look for him and commented on how young and cool he looked.
Student: HOL UP!!! IS THIS MUTHAF'N OJ SIMPSON????
Everybody gets closer and looks at the pic of O.J. cheesing with that "I'm about to murder somebody in 20 years face".

T: yeah I played one year with him and Al (Cowling).
As you can imagine we had all the questions.
Someone asked: Do you ever talk to O.J.?
T: Yeah we actually just talked very recently.
Someone else asked: Did he tell you if he killed that lady?
He laughed and said no.

I wrote all of this to say that the first Black Male teacher I had was man named Clyde Glosson. He was one of those black dudes that have been cool all their lives. I'm talking Dr. J cool.
Also, the first time I watched the movie Glory was in his class. And we when started talking, he'd say "be quiet! Denzel got an Oscar for this!" lol
Salute to Mr. Glosson, you were a great role model!
