RETURNING TO TECH REHEARSALS (a thread): When theatres return I would really like to see a reimagining if the tech / previews process. Too much pressure for previews to be basically perfect means techs are rushed and gruelling. (1/4)
Making preview periods longer & closer to work-in-progress presentations will mean greater flexibility in tech and shorter days (better for accessibility, mental health and the quality of the art itself). (2/4)
A second (short - maybe two days or so) tech period at the end of the previews to implement lessons learnt etc. would make putting an unfinished show in front of audiences worth it for the benefit it would have on the final production. (3/4)
I know this will require a massive culture shift, and there’s a huge financial risk - I’m not a producer, I have no idea how this model could be made workable. But it feels important. (4/4)
