Forgive me in advance – long thread alert!!! I got to thinking after the Deadline Emmy panel – how does this all work? Does Sam have a chance? Looking on the Emmy website, I found that a show can only submit 1 episode for consideration for best drama.
Based on what was shown in the Deadline webcast, I think we have a good guess as to which one OL will submit.
Then I started to think about acting nominations – do they get to submit favorite eps? I could not find any information on this.

Since I could not find information, I reached out to Dan Fienberg of the Hollywood Reporter via my main Twitter account as I follow him and listen to his podcast every week. And wouldn’t you know it, he wrote me right back (what a nice man

According to him – there are no episodes to submit. The members of the academy just have to “know” you somehow. He is right about after you have been nominated – I did find that online. It’s only then you have the right to choose your eps.
As he says, there is a lot of complacency…people vote for the same names over and over. Unless someone can rise above that and get noticed - that happens when they or their show has a lot of buzz.
Which leads me back to our friend, the COO of St*rz - who stood up in front of all the TV writers and critics and insulted Sam by calling him eye candy. So, let’s continue to get his name out there. Let’s get him to win polls and anything else we can think of, so he gets on someone’s radar. Instead of “eye candy” let’s re-brand him as the very brilliant actor who brings Jamie to life each episode.
