Politicians campaigning and then winning office actually never makes anything better. Before Women and Black People could vote, the electorate was created for solely white men to vote for other white men. It’s was a confirmation of white cis-manhood and it’s ideals
being the only determining factor of a sustainable union. Today more people of different walks of life have access to ballots and going to vote, while others still don’t. But for people who can vote, we have concepts within the electorate like:, The Black Vote, Gay Vote, etc.
The fact these things are a concept, now determining voting blocks based on race and sex..I feel is this is because the people who once didn’t have access to the ballot, who now do, also are now determining whiteness and not only whiteness, but westernism...
as we know it now in the 21st century..as both the determining factors for not just a “better” country, but a “better” world. “Better” here meaning more white and more western. They would like for us to adhere to their standards and ideals to keep confirming them
as the administrators of our political and existential states of being. The video of those Trump supporters (or feds actors) singing that song urged me to tweet this thread because when I first saw that, I thought hmm “every four years the white and middle class people of...
..the electorate cheer, sing, put on t shirts and go to the ballots to select their candidate...this is the base of the electorate that is most responsible for reaffirming whiteness and westernism as the most determining factor because both these things protect them the most.
Now we know that we now live in a world, where candidates of different walks of life are running for office also, which is the cap up, unfortunately. These candidates usually do adhere to the same platitudes of whiteness and westernism (Obama, Kamala, Hilary).
And when they are voted for by the people who they represent, that vote feels like a revolutionary moment. But instead it is a double down, again..making westernism and whiteness the determined factors of our quality of life and state, because most times these candidates of
different backgrounds as I said, adhere to western standards, which then does nothing for the people who have voted for them. Especially when the two people I mentioned ran losing campaigns. And the former President had aggressive domestic and foreign policies
against black and brown people. One last thing, as I said, one time, White Women couldn’t vote. In 2016, 66% Percent of them in the electorate voted for Trump and 34% of them voted for Hilary. Now, you tell me if I’m buggin. Stay Black. ✊🏾
