@RCPSGheritage Tonight should have been the Goodall symposium called “Changing Minds”. As current Honorary Librarian I get to introduce and chair this. I try to talk a bit about Archibald Goodall, whom this symposium is named after, who sadly died at the age of 48 in 1963 1/4
He was Honorary Librarian of our College from 1946 until 1963. He wrote several times on medical libraries. “One of the most valuable results of reading through the journals is the opening up of sidetracks which had been previously overlooked” 2/4
Another quote from the same piece I like is “one of the most refreshing aspects of the Congress was the realisation of what our librarians think of us. The librarians’ conception of the clinical worker appeared to be of someone between a tyrant, a lunatic, and a babe-in-arms” 3/4
Not sure what the heritage team think today😁 Anyway, here’s to an amazing Fellow of and college and what would have been an amazing event and hopefully we can start to do events again in the future 4/4
