PM @MAKadhimi walks back on decision to cut salaries for Rafha& #39;s political prisoners which was backed by popular support. Rafha beneficiaries protested and the government positively responded. 700 victims of October& #39;s protests weren& #39;t alive to comment on the double standards
The average salary of each person in Rafha is $1200 a month per person. Some families collect $10,000 a month(for 13 years ongoing). Noted that the vast majority of beneficiaries have settled in the US and Europe since 1991.
Another point to add to the high-horse discourse when addressing why unemployed Iraqis are mad. There are thousands of Iraqis who have settled overseas but collect thousands of $ paychecks to "compensate" for Saddam displacing them.
We also notice the high-horse circus didn& #39;t resort to slandering these protesters. They weren& #39;t call agents, or traitors, or instigators despite openly threatening to carry arms against the government.
Perhaps most disappointing is @MAKadhimi & #39;s inabilities to even slightly shake the core of the ridiculous patronage system of the post-2003 order. He can maintain high cuts to pensions but not Rafha salaries is testament to how powerful the order is.
