Thread on practical Islamic spirituality:

Based on Sayed Ali al-Qaadi, the teacher of Sheikh Bahjat and Allamah Tabataba’i, and his advice to the serious seeker:
1 – It is upon you to pray the obligatory prayers at the beginning of it’s prescribed time.
2 – As for the night prayer (Salaatul Layl), there is no escape from it. It is astonishing to see those who desire higher stations of perfection whilst not standing in the middle of the night. We have not heard of anyone who attained a lofty station without this prayer.
3 – Recite the Quran, at night, in a sorrowful voice. Such is the intoxicating drink of the believers.

4 – It is upon you to recite the known athkaar that are between the hands of you all, and to prostrate whilst reciting the thikr of Prophet Yunus (as) from 500 to 1000 times.
5. To visit the grand Mosques if capable, & all other Masaajid, every day, for a believer in the masjid is like the fish in water.

6. Do not leave your prayers until you recite the thikr of Sayyeda Fatima, & to recite a full cycle of it in every gathering you find yourself in.
7. It is of utter importance to read Dua al-Faraj in the qunoot of the Witr prayer. And to recite it everyday and in all duas.

8. Read the known Ziyara, Ziyarat al-Jami'a, every friday.
9 – Let your reading of the Quran be at least 1 chapter of the 30 chapters.

10 – Increase the visits of your righteous brothers, for they are the brothers on the path, & the companions during difficulties.

11 - Visit the cemeteries during the day & avoid doing so in the night.
This Dunya has taken us away and distracted us whilst it is not even for us. The best of tidings to those men whose bodies are among the people (al-nasoot), yet their hearts are settled in the divine world (al-lahoot).
