Hi Utah Friends. I want to talk about @WeberStateU and Scott Senjo for a second. So please, come along with me on this thread, and if you agree, consider sending Weber State a handwritten letter.
Ok so background. You may remember that Senjo handed in his resignation to @WeberStateU after tweeting a series of disturbing tweets in regards to the Black Lives Matter protests, and riots. Including tweets sent to Journalists.
He resigned, I guess (I don't know of course) because of public outcry. He then RESCINDED his resignation. This fits. People see he resigned they stop being mad, and he quietly rescinds the resignation, and Weber quietly starts "investigating" the tweets. @WeberStateU
Here's the problem. This is a prof who teaches Criminal Justice Studies. So it's already a problematic prof to continue to teach who knows what bias to the next generation of criminal justice professionals.
But, whatever, Twitter is a pretty crazy space - but this man *advocated violence* towards other members on Twitter. This was not him, as a professional, professionally disagreeing based on research and evidence with the protests - this was a call to violence.
So, if he remains a professor how can @WeberStateU guarantee that BIPOC or, frankly, anyone with a liberal viewpoint, will be able to voice their opinion, or feel safe in his classes? Weber MUST prove this in their investigation, and frankly, I'm not sure they can.
So, @WeberStateU should not consider disciplinary action, they should end the tenure and consider what their Criminal Justice program looks like, and who it is taught by. If you're willing to threaten people on twitter, you're definitely normalizing violence in your classroom.
And, while I have posted this thread on Twitter, I will also be writing a physical letter to the University, if you agree with me I encourage you to do the same. Weber State University
