Behind the ‘Orange Curtain’

I’m not a reporter, an investigator, or a politician. Just an OC resident finally paying attention, like many of you. So let’s do this together. Let’s start a thread and share what we find.

First up: Chairwoman Michelle Steel

Michelle Steel is the Chairwoman of the OC Board of Supervisors. To explain - “The chairperson presides over the supervisors’ public meetings, decides how long public commenters can speak, and is considered a spokesperson for the five-member Board of Sup at public events”

Michelle Steel is also running for CA’s 48th Congressional District against Harley Rouda. Steel has been very vocal with questioning the need for masks to be worn in OC and pushing to reopen businesses quickly. So, who is her Emergency Medical Care Commissioner?

Dr Jeff Barke.

Dr Jeff Barke. Do you know about Jeff? Let’s review, he’s gained a lot of media attention when he attended a ReOpen California rally and spoke out about his anti-mask stance. I will add a little clip, but he has multiple interviews and videos to discuss his opinions online.

To give you some background on Dr Barke’s involvement in Orange County politics, I’m going to attach his curriculum vitae (dated Jan 2019).

This information about Dr Jeff Barke became public record when he tried to fill a vacancy on the Board of Directors for the Municipal Water District of Orange County. He received 2 letters of recommendations:

Tim Whitacre (District Director for Steel)

More attachment between Dr Barke and Steel go back to political donations. Mari Barke (Jeff’s wife) donated to Steel on 12/2/19 for $1000. Steel has also received many donations from Winred PAC, which both Mari & Jeff donate to. Both have been active supporters of Steel.

Side note, did you know that Jeff’s wife Mari Barke is on the Orange County Board of Education? Let that sink in. Mari is also a supporter of Betsy DeVos. Interesting, the DeVos Family has donated at least $16,800 to Steel.

Now, let’s take a quick move to OC Board of Supervisor meetings (where Dr Barke has previously given comments on anti masks). On May 26th mtg Dr Quick’s life was threatened (unknown by who per Steel) and address released and encouraged protests at her home (Leigh Dundas).

I’ve personally wondered- Were Supervisors involved in getting Dr Quick to resign? Leigh Dundas’ husband, Stephen Dundas an OC chiropractor also spoke. Reminder- Michelle Steel’s husband is a trial attorney who specializes in personal injury law, particularly chiropractors.

OCSD Sheriff Barnes on 5/26 spoke and said “we are not the mask police” and will not enforce a mask order by Dr Quick. Barnes who has donated to Steel, and works with Barke (OC reserve deputy and tactical physician for SWAT).

There is just so much to address, the politicians in OC look very exclusive and tight-knit. The opening innovation on the 5/26 meeting was Pastor Joe Pedick from Calvary Chapel of the Harbor. This video taken at their service 6/14. It was incredibly crowded and not many masks.

Can we mention who was in attendance at that Calvery service on 6/14? Tim Whitacre. We talked about him above, he gave the letter of recommendation for Dr Barke and is the District Director for Chairwoman Michelle Steel. The right hand man to Steel. Our county leadership.
