This isn't an attack at anyone.

We really need to deal with this once and for all.
(REFERRAL TO PHYSIOTHERAPY)

THERE IS NOTHING LIKE CHEST AND LIMB PHYSIOTHERAPY

NOTHING LIKE AGGRESSIVE PHYSIOTHERAPY TOO.

imagine this referral for a stroke patient đŸ€’

A thread for all....all
IGNORANCE isn't an excuse anymore.

I'll try to explain pls don't take it personal.

Don't you ever wonder how patients you refer to physiotherapy for rehabilitation which in your poor choice of words you termed as "chest and limb physiotherapy ", how they regain some lost
functional skills ?
You really think it's by passive exercises you see in the ward?
Or
By the "chest" physiotherapy you know nothing about?

First you should understand that before attending to any patient. We
perform a thorough assessment and our management is patient specific.
You can only prescribe what you have full knowledge of.
You study and understand drug (the Dynamics and kinetics) that's why you prescribe it,
When you understand how to communicate to the defective nervous
system using intact reflexes, proprioceptive, visual and tactile signals from the extremities to increase cortical excitation to facilitate the process of neuroplasticity and the adoption of new functional skills...
When you learn to prevent abnormal muscle Synergies, preventing
loss of gastric mobility, while maintaining the patency of the respiratory tract, preventing the loss of muscles including respiratory muscles, keeping V/Q balanced, minimize hemiagnosia..all and more waiting for Neuroplasticity.
Also, you don't know what the patient need!
All you know is that he/she needs rehabilitation back to their former lives or close.
After getting this patient stable. What else can you do ?
That is why management is a team work. Don't assume you understand until you actually do
Don't prescribe exercise, walking aid, AGGRESSIVE PT 😂

Next time you make any referral to a PHYSIOTHERAPISt as a medical doctor. Instead of prescribing what you have no idea about. Indicate the indication for PHYSIOTHERAPy. Be it rehabilitative, preventive, Promotional, etc.
Which most time is REHABILITATIVE

Rehabilitation isn't just chest and limb.
Or better still make a list of symptoms the patient has that needs a Physiotherapy expert contribution

@ronkeeajayi and others.
Thanks for understanding 😊

Love ya.
I wish we were taught the role of other members of the medical team . maybe then we'll appreciate them
