there are not enough national politics reporters and editors who are Black or Indigenous in Canada and it is shameful how white the field of political reporting is across the country

every time there is a group photo of political reporters on party planes or at Queen's Park or other legislatures I am reminded of how often issues affecting so many non-white Canadians are covered poorly or not at all

It's 2020. All the excuses are bad. There is so much interest and talent in this beat from non-white journalists. I am tired of watching incredible people like Desmond Cole and Sunny Dhillon unnecessarily struggle in their careers due to outdated ideas about race and reporting.

It should have been a bigger deal there was not a Black or brown reporter on Trudeau's press plane who could ask him about the photos of him in blackface during the election campaign period last year.
