UF had made moves to ban the chant "Gator Bait".

Before everyone gets confused as to why, here is some background:

Alligator Bait” is the term drives from an activity conducted by white men, mostly in the swamps of Louisiana and Florida.

Since Alligator skin was fashionable
They would kidnap black infants and use the infants to lure the alligator bait.

These tidbits found themselves on postcards and new articles
and eventually found itself being used as a racial slur around the 30's - 50's. You may even hear it as a slur today although UF used it as a chant that as of today, they have effectively banned from using.

That is your quick history lesson of normalized racism.
