the goal of reading theory is not to “radicalize” (what does this mean) oneself or others. it is to gain a deeper understand of the world and how to change it
I think we should be critical of treating the idea of “radicalization” as s good thing. it’s a concept that comes from the Countering Violent Extremism state department model and I don’t think we can just invert that and say it’s good
our politics are radical because they attempt to grasp the root of social dysfunction and, as the song goes, change society at the base
if we are to do that we need to know what that base is, in specific and scientific terms, and the means by which it can change. This knowledge cannot come only from life experience because the subject is too large to be encompassed by any individuals life. It requires study
if you’re asking “how do we propagandize so more people become communists” yeah telling them to read capital probably isn’t gonna work but that’s not the point of reading capital
at the same time, making more people communists, while a good thing, not our only or even primary goal
