Today is #AutismPrideDay, and with it, your annual Public Service Announcement: Many places, and many doctors, refuse to diagnose, and therefore validate, adult autism.
Also, many doctors are dumb, because many PEOPLE are dumb. Many doctors believe outdated hogwash, because many PEOPLE believe outdated hogwash.
Therefore, it is PERFECTLY OK to be pretty damn sure you’re autistic, even if nobody with letters after their name has ever validated that fact.
So, if you have not been diagnosed with ASD, and you’re pretty sure you’re ASD, you can let that be good enough. There are no prizes for diagnosis.
You can be proud, too. You can be proud and scared and confused and angry just like everybody else. Happy #AutismPrideDay.
