I understand the @NYPDnews is telling the press that they were not "formally" invited to this hearing. The NYPD was, in fact, invited on multiple occasions.

On June 10 at ~7:40pm, the Commanding Officer of the NYPD Legal Bureau, who has been liaising with our team on this investigation, was informed about the hearing and the @NYPDnews was invited to attend.

On June 11 at ~10:10am, a written Public Notice about the hearing was shared with the @NYPDnews via email.

This email was shared with the Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Legal Matters and the Director of Intergovernmental Affairs for the NYPD.

On June 15 at ~10am, the invitation was once again shared verbally with the @NYPDnews via the Commanding Officer of the Legal Bureau, who was reminded that the public expects the NYPD to participate.

Furthermore, the @NYCMayorsOffice was notified about the hearing multiple times, via email and phone, and reminded that the @NYCMayor and NYPD Commissioner @NYPDShea were invited to attend.

Let me be clear: @NYPDnews & @NYCMayor were invited to testify in this hearing.
