Please don’t rely on SOCIAL media to educate you on current events.. I highly recommend checking out the Economist for news articles or if you don’t feel like reading Vox has great YouTube videos to watch
I always see information widely circulated here on this bird app that is misleading/vague/simply untrue.. without fact checking or getting your information from a trustworthy source you may be doing more harm than good by sharing sus information
There is no use in blaming the media for not knowing, diminishing global atrocities to a repost, and shaming folx for being ignorant.. individually we must seek understanding and empathy (I’m speaking for adults not about kids and the corrupt curriculum being taught in school)
https://twitter.com/bunnievision_/status/1068217036990345216?s=21">https://twitter.com/bunnievis... (2018) There IS media reporting on the same information I’ve seen folx claim to be “hidden”... just maybe not the media they chose to consume... it’s not SOCIAL media’s responsibility to provide that information to you https://twitter.com/bunnievision_/status/1068217036990345216">https://twitter.com/bunnievis...
Check yourself. You have to check yourself. You have to hold yourself responsible for being informed on what’s going on globally (by consuming accurate information) if that is something you feel is worth knowing. If you chose to be ignorant that is up to YOU.
Before I recommend and summarize sources, I want to say that this is my PERSONAL choice of retaining information.. I am not by any means all knowing, I’m quite the opposite, I want folx to learn and not feel ashamed for not knowing.. “Know better, do better” there is zero excuse
The Economist: a news publication that is credible and comprehensible. The information is easily digestible and the articles often have audio listening features so you don’t even have to read if you don’t want to. They have an app you can download with a free trial
Vox: Vox is so fucking cool. So fucking cool. Not only do they have information on current global issues, but they also have information on art, music, design etc. Their YouTube videos are visually pleasing and also easily digestible
NPR: I would say NPR is good for podcasts disscussing global issues and they are the creators of the Tiny Desk Concerts which are extremely dope. Another great source if you don’t like reading
The point I’m trying to make is that SOCIAL media holds no responsibilty for making y’all aware. Start spreading awareness by letting people in your immediate connections (family, friends, coworkers etc) know that they must get their information from CREDIBLE sources
This also goes for all the shit talking and weird shit on this bird app..don’t fall victim to a sheep mindset by determining how credible something is based off clout & numbers YOU get to choose what YOU believe & YOU get to formulate your own opinions I can’t stress that enough
