Some news!

I’m officially joining @danshipper and @nbashaw to work on Every!

And as my main project, I’ll be launching a business & investing newsletter called Napkin Math

Details below 👇
First, a quick update.

Last summer I left my investment banking job. Shortly after, I supported myself by freelancing as I worked on a startup idea (which I have long ago shutdown)

But around that time I also started to write online, both on Twitter and my website
In December, @nbashaw reached out and asked if I wanted to write an article with him

"Sure!"

I didn't really think of myself as a writer but it couldn't hurt to try

The next 6 months I wrote articles for both Superorganizers (productivity) and Divinations (business strategy)
Along the way, I learned more about what @danshipper and @nbashaw are building: a bundle of great business writing

Everyone is experiencing paid newsletter fatigue (who has the money for a dozen $10/month newsletters?) and we are trying to solve that problem
It also turns out that bundling products together creates a surplus for both the consumer and producer

It seemed like the perfect opportunity!

(Nathan wrote a great post outlining the magic of bundles a few months ago:) https://divinations.substack.com/p/bundle-magic
Eventually we decided we wanted to work together longer-term and agreed the best path was for me to launch my own newsletter

And thus, Napkin Math was born

To say this opportunity developed by sharing my work online would not be inaccurate!
So what is Napkin Math?

An inquiry into business and investing. You can expect:

- Company case studies (both the successes and the failures)
- Lessons from the best founders and investors
- Wide ranging pieces connecting investing topics together https://napkinmath.substack.com/
Today's article is about the Hertz bankruptcy

While you may have heard a bit about the situation already, this post teaches you some finance basics so you can understand the "Why?" behind what's going on https://napkinmath.substack.com/p/explaining-the-hertz-situation
I'd be thrilled if you let me send you a few emails every week and if you're so inclined, I'd also recommend joining the rapidly growing Every bundle (which now includes myself, @danshipper, @nbashaw and @fortelabs) https://everything.substack.com/
Oh and one more thing: we have a lot of stuff in the pipeline to add to the Every bundle, but are always on the lookout for the highest-quality business writing to join us

If you are a writer or aspiring writer let's chat! You know how to reach us
